Remembering Christmas Past and my 3 Angels

My grand babies stayed with us the other night and I did something that brought back memories of long ago. They had so much energy, (might have been the sweets Mimi made), we had to do something to get them tired. So remembering Christmas Eve long ago when I was young, it was always busy for Mom and Dad. They had all the family over to our house and the kitchen was like a restaurant with all the menu items being prepared at once. I have to say Mom had control on my brother and me, but on Christmas Eve we just couldn't hold it all in. My Mom started putting on our coats and not say a word of where we were going and back in those days to go anywhere was a treat. Well my brother and I were so excited and couldn't wait to be on our adventure. She opened the door and said, "OK, start running down to Grandma's and Grandpa's, turn around and come back home", which they lived at the end of our street. I just remember this was one Christmas in Texas it was really cold and we just didn't understand this task and said, "Why"? I don't think she ever gave us an answer, so we took off and laughed all the way. Mom stood at the door and she must of called Grandma, because she was at her front door and waved at us as we turned around and ran back home. Some good energy used and I guess we calmed down a little. Well my 3 angels was bouncing off the walls so we went outside and I showed them a running path around our oak trees and back to me. Needless to say they laughed all the way, even the little one. Miss and love you Mom and Dad, now I understand.
Santa is still hanging on this year. Wishing you all a Merry Christmas!

Oh my, here comes another Giveaway! Love Amy Butler's new book, this might be for you...

I just had to get two of Amy's Butler's book "Style Stitches". One for me and one to share when I was at the Quilt Market. It is filled with ideas and patterns for 26 purses and cute accessories. So if you read my blog, you know how I'll be picking the winner soon.
Now for all the news of what has been happening. You name it, it has happened. Not really, just so many irons in the fire I think I'm losing brain cells.
New adventures that is making my sewing machines burn and with the Holiday's, well we all know what they bring. so little time to get everything accomplished. I was suppose to go on a retreat this week and had all my projects lined up to get made, you can really get a lot done away from home, but this didn't happen. I told my family a sign is going on my door to the sewing room, "Gone on a retreat, will be back Thursday", do you think this would work?
I'll be back on Friday with the winner, remember if you follow me on the blog that's one chance and on Facebook that is two chances.

2 Days Late, but we have a Winner!!!

I bet ya thought I just forgot about this giveaway. I really didn't, after getting home from our bee get together, I came home to about 35 pounds of shrimp I had to put up. Boy I love shrimp gumbo, but I really don't like to clean them. My hands are all torn up. So sorry for the delay on this announcement. This is the purse that the winner will receive, I hope she likes Halloween.

Below is the pattern I used. If you haven't sewn one of Nanette's patterns, they are so easy to understand and with great pictures. Freda's Hive is her website, you need to go visit her and see all the patterns she has designed.

And here is the winner, Michelle at Rosebud Quilting
Sewing this just put me in a FALL mood.

Thanks for all that stop in. I also joined facebook, so if you follow me on my page I added at the top of the blog you get two chances on my giveaway's. Hope to have a new tutorial soon, kinda hate to say anything due to out of the blue things getting in the way.

I'm working on items for another show coming up soon, so stay tune.

Short post on what I'm working on and a completed quilt, yea!!! What you see in the picture above is going to be in the giveaway I'm working on coming up. So if you are a follower you'll be in the drawing. Probably it will take place on this coming Wednesday. If I really get with it you might have a choice of the gifty. Spellcheck is telling me that gifty is not a word, but it sounds good to me.
Below is a quilt a finished and hope to list it on etsy tonight or the website. Love me some sock monkeys. This is the front and then the next picture is the back. Tried to get a close up on the quilting.

Quilt Retreat Photos

We had such a blast at our retreat with guild members. Putting women together with the same hobbies always turns out to be a good time. The first two pictures I'm sure you'll get a laugh. Ethel made a dirty clothes bag for her laundry. Isn't this the cutest thing. She also taught a lot of the girls quilt as you go at the retreat. So much talent in a little package.

I also need to apologize for some of the photo's, I didn't go to school for photography and you can tell...
